The trailer broke records on YouTube, amassing 93 million views in 24 hours. It took us back to a modern, sun-soaked Vice City and introduced protagonist Lucia and her currently unnamed partner. Soundtracked to Tom Petty’s “Love is a Long Road,” the trailer features neon lights, speed boats, jumbo jets, pool parties, strip clubs, flamingos, and TikTok-inspired vertical footage, leaving fans more excited than ever. So, what do we know about GTA 6? When could the game be released? And how much could it cost? We’ve got all the details about the upcoming installment in the franchise.
Rockstar GTA6 Release Date:

Where is Vice City?
In September 2022, a hacker leaked 90 videos and screenshots of GTA 6. Although the footage was from early development, it showed that the game would be set in Vice City. This setting was later officially confirmed in the first-look trailer.
Vice City is heavily based on the coastal city of Miami. In the trailer, news packages and road signs with location names suggest that the Vice City map will be significantly bigger than in the original 2002 game. Reddit users have already been creating mock-up maps of Vice City based on the leak.
The trailer confirms that Vice City is located in the state of Leonida, with one social media post stating: “Only in Leonida is a crotch grab an apology for bad driving.” Other road signs mention VCI Airport, Catalan Boulevard, Kelly County, Vice Beaches, and Port VC/Keys.
Story & Characters:
Like GTA V, the latest title will feature more than one protagonist. The 2022 leak introduced GTA 6’s new protagonists, including a Latin American woman named Lucia and a man named Jason. The game is rumored to be based on real-life criminals Bonnie and Clyde, according to someone familiar with its development. The first-look trailer gave us a better look at Lucia. Who is seen in the opening shot wearing a prison uniform and talking to, presumably, a parole officer. However, the man’s name is not mentioned.
New York actor Gregory Connors is reported to be playing Jason in GTA 6. Although this casting hasn’t been officially confirmed, Connors listed a ‘lead’ role in a 2025 Rockstar game in a recent CV update. This speculation comes shortly after Troy Baker. The renowned video game voice actor known for his roles in The Last of Us and Uncharted. Confirmed he isn’t playing any of the main protagonists in GTA 6. GTA V was the first in the series to introduce three playable protagonists. Michael, Trevor, and Franklin—and the upcoming game is expected to follow a similar pattern, allowing players to switch between characters during missions.
Cost?
It’s rare to see discussions about a game’s price years before its release. But with leakers and insiders suggesting a budget of $1 billion to $2 billion for GTA 6, fans are speculating that the game might be more expensive as a result. The leading rumor suggests the game will cost $150 (£120).
We believe this is highly unlikely. Most AAA games typically start at around £69.99, with deluxe editions reaching up to £100. We don’t anticipate this changing, even if the budget approaches the $1 billion mark.
GTA 6 Cross Platform:
As of now, the only confirmed platforms for GTA 6 are the PS5 and the Xbox Series X. Rockstar Games hasn’t provided any further details regarding a PC, PS4, or Xbox One release.
Both the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be five years old by the time GTA 6 is released. So it’s not certain whether the older consoles will be supported. Rockstar hasn’t specified whether it will support cross-platform play either.
